This policy explains what happens to your information when you visit drkristinadobyns.com or sign up for one of the email lists on this site.
If you have questions about anything here, email info@drkristinadobyns.com.
What this site collects
If you sign up for an email list, we collect the first name and email address you enter, and a record of which of the three lists you chose.
If you simply visit, our hosting provider automatically records standard technical information — your IP address, browser type, the pages you viewed and when. This is normal server logging and is used to keep the site running and secure.
We do not collect payment information on this site. We do not ask for health information, and you should not send any to us through this site.
About the list you choose
This is worth explaining plainly, because it is the most sensitive thing this site collects.
The sign-up section offers three options — one about binge eating recovery, one about retreats, and one for both. Your choice is stored alongside your email address so we know what to send you.
That means if you choose the binge eating recovery list, your record reflects an interest in that topic. We treat that as sensitive information. Specifically:
- We use it only to decide which emails to send you.
- We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with advertisers. Ever.
- We do not use it to build advertising audiences or upload it to any advertising platform.
- You can change your selection or leave any list at any time, and we will act on it.
If you would rather not have an interest recorded at all, choose the third option, or email us directly at info@drkristinadobyns.com instead of using a form.
How we use your information
We use your name and email to send you the emails you signed up for — updates, articles, resources, and information about programmes and retreats. If you asked about retreats, that may include announcements about pricing and dates.
We use technical log data to operate and secure the site, and to understand generally how it is being used.
We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you.
Why we are allowed to do this
If you are in the UK, EU or another region with similar law, our legal bases are:
- Consent — for sending you marketing emails and for recording the interest you selected. You gave this by submitting the form, and you can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing.
- Legitimate interests — for basic site operation, security and general analytics.
- Legal obligation — where we are required to keep records, for example proof of consent.
Who else handles your information
We keep this list short deliberately.
Kit (kit.com, formerly ConvertKit) is our email platform. When you submit a form, your name, email and list selection are stored in Kit, and Kit sends our emails on our behalf. Kit acts on our instructions and is bound by a data processing agreement. Kit’s own privacy policy is at https://kit.com/privacy.
Bluehost hosts this website and processes server logs.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Where your information goes
Kit and our hosting provider are based in the United States. If you are in the UK or EU, this means your information is transferred outside your region. Those transfers rely on the standard contractual protections our providers have in place. If you would like more detail, email us and we will explain the specifics.
How long we keep it
We keep your subscriber record for as long as you are subscribed, and for 24 months after you unsubscribe, so that we can honour your unsubscribe request and show that you consented in the first place. After that it is deleted.
You can ask us to delete your record sooner. See below.
Your choices and rights
Unsubscribing. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click, no questions, and it takes effect immediately.
Changing what you receive. Email us and tell us which list you want, or unsubscribe and sign up again with a different selection.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy
- have inaccurate information corrected
- have your information deleted
- object to or restrict how we use it
- receive your information in a portable format
- withdraw consent at any time
- not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights
To exercise any of these, email info@drkristinadobyns.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first, which usually just means replying from the address you signed up with.
If you are in the UK or EU and you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Links to other sites
This site links to Beyond Binge Eating, The Lightwell, and Meat & Movement. Once you follow a link, you are on a different site with its own privacy policy. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information — though the three sites above are also operated by us and follow the same principles.
Children
This site is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we will remove the record.
Security
We use reputable providers, HTTPS across the site, and access controls on our accounts. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we hold — and the simplest protection is that we hold very little.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will tell subscribers by email.
